Marcus Hyatt

Marcus Hyatt is a dedicated public servant running for Florida State House Representative for District 38, serving Seminole County, including Winter Springs, Casselberry, Fern Park, and Altamonte Springs. With a career spanning education, law enforcement, and the legal field, Marcus is committed to bringing his experience and leadership to Tallahassee to advocate for safer neighborhoods, quality education, and lower costs for Florida families.
Marcus began his career as a middle school teacher, where he spent two years shaping the minds of young students and witnessing firsthand the challenges facing Florida’s education system. His passion for justice led him to serve as a Florida State Prosecutor in Seminole County for eight years, where he worked tirelessly to protect the community. As a top DUI prosecutor, he was recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for his commitment to keeping Florida’s roads safe.
Wanting to serve on the front lines of public safety, Marcus became a police officer with the Orlando Police Department, where he earned the title of highest achiever in the police academy. He went on to serve with OPD’s Honor Guard and Crisis Negotiation Team, playing a critical role in high-stakes situations and community engagement. His experience in both prosecution and law enforcement gives him a unique understanding of how to reduce crime through strong, community-based policing while also ensuring fair and just legal practices.
Today, Marcus serves as an Associate Attorney at DSK Law Firm in Orlando, where he helps individuals and businesses navigate legal challenges. His background in education, law enforcement, and law gives him a well-rounded perspective on the issues affecting Florida families.
Born in Daytona Beach, Marcus has spent most of his adult life living in Seminole County. He moved to Orlando to pursue higher education, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies from the University of Central Florida and later obtaining his Juris Doctorate from Barry Law School. He now calls Winter Springs home, where he is deeply involved in the community. He is an active member of the Winter Springs Rotary Club, Seminole County Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Additionally, he gives back by serving in the children’s ministry at Action Church.
Marcus is married to his wife, Alexandra Hyatt, and together they have a blended family with four wonderful children. Family is at the heart of everything he does, and he understands the importance of ensuring that Florida remains a place where families can thrive, children receive a strong education, and communities feel safe and supported.
As a Christian, Marcus believes in servant leadership, compassion, and empathy, and he refuses to accept the status quo. He is running for State Representative because he believes that every child deserves access to a strong education, every family deserves to feel safe in their neighborhood, and every Floridian should have relief from the rising costs of living, including skyrocketing homeowners insurance rates.
With a proven record of service and leadership, Marcus Hyatt is ready to fight for the residents of District 38 and ensure their voices are heard in Tallahassee.
